Thousands protest Trump administration at No Kings rally in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Over the weekend, millions of people rallied across the nation in protest of President Donald Trump, including thousands in South Central Kentucky.
No Kings, a national movement that believes the Trump administration is corrupt and authoritarian, held a protest in Bowling Green on Saturday, organized locally by SoKY Indivisible.
The protest gathered at Alumni Avenue and marched to the Warren County Justice Center on Saturday afternoon in opposition to President Trump’s administration.
Protestors waved homemade signs and chanted against the administration’s stances on healthcare, immigration, transgender rights, and other highly politicized topics.
SoKY Indivisible organizer Cathy Severns says protestors gathered to make their voices heard.
“We’re trying to let the administration and others know. Politicians know that we do not agree, and there is not a mandate for authoritarianism or these cuts. You know, cutting medical research…cutting foreign aid,” said Severns.
Severns said the organization is asking Congressman Brett Guthrie to consider a town hall to discuss political issues.
No Kings says 7 million people attended the rallies across the country on Saturday.
The protest attendance in Bowling Green is estimated to be 2,000, close to the first No Kings rally held on June 14.
Severns says that there were two counterprotestors, but the event remained peaceful.
A protest was also held at the Courthouse Square in Franklin on Saturday.
