The Wall That Heals: Vietnam Veterans Memorial coming to Russellville

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – In the first week of June, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from Washington, D.C. is anticipated in Russellville, Kentucky.

Walnut Grove Parkside Campus will present The Wall That Heals for four days. The wall stands 7 1/2 feet tall and expands 375 feet wide.

On June 4, the wall will have a police escort beginning at noon from Bowling Green to Russellville. The memorial will be opened for 24 hours on June 5, prior to the wreath laying ceremony at 7 p.m.

The opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m. the following day. June 7 consists of reading the names from 1 to 7:00 p.m. Of the 58,000 names on the wall, 1,059 are Kentuckians.

A PTSD awareness candlelight vigil will begin at 8 p.m. on June 8. The closing ceremony will take place on June 9 beginning at 1:45 p.m.

There is a great need for 200+ volunteers to protect and surveillance the memorial for it to run efficiently. To sign-up as a set-up or general volunteer, click here.
