The Salvation Army of Bowling Green invites community to participate in Giving Tuesday

Red Kettle Campaign

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Salvation Army of Bowling Green is inviting the community to usher in holiday spirit through acts of kindness this Giving Tuesday.

On Dec. 2, this global day of generosity encourages individuals, families and businesses to give back to causes that strengthen their communities.

The annual day began in 2012. Over time, it has evolved into a worldwide movement to inspire millions to give, work together and celebrate kindness.

“Giving Tuesday is about more than making a donation—it’s about bringing hope,” said Capt. Johnny Horton, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army of Bowling Green. “Whether people give online, at a Red Kettle, or by mailing a check, every gift stays right here in Bowling Green to help provide food, shelter, emergency assistance, and support to our neighbors in need. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of this community.”

Last year, The Salvation Army of Bowling Green says it provided 15,521 nights of shelter, 61,251 meals, 4,551 food boxes and 10,288 Christmas gifts.

This year, you can help make the difference.

The nonprofit says philanthropic giving is down “significantly” while needs and the cost to assist others continue to rise.

The Salvation Army is urging the community to “give with joy,” with several ways to support the nonprofit.

These include making an online donation at www.SalvationArmyBowlingGreen.org, donating at a Red Kettle, sending a check to The Salvation Army at PO Box 796, Bowling Green, KY 42102, volunteering for a shift at a Red Kettle or through businesses and churches sponsoring a kettle, hosting an Angel Tree or matching gifts.

All donations to The Salvation Army remain in the local community, according to the nonprofit.
