The Riverview rewinds time with Candlelight Tour

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – December has finally arrived.

Which means Christmas festivities will be in abundance throughout South Central Kentucky.

However, one local attraction will take you back in time to how Christmas once was.

The Riverview, or Hobson House, is rewinding the clocks for their Candlelight Tour.

The tour will take place on December 8th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Volunteers will wear costumes while they educate tourists on Victorian Christmas traditions.

The Riverview has decorations inside and out and on the night of the tour, will be lit by candles and antique lamps.

The tour is free but donations are acceptable, which goes towards the upkeep of the historic house.

We spoke to Brooke Peterson, the Executive Director of the Hobson House.

She tells us the purpose behind the tours is to spark conversation about the house’s history.

Peterson also hopes to encourage an appreciation for how life is now versus the Victorian era.

On the night of the tour, parking will be at the bottom of the hill at the ballpark and golf course.

The Riverview will provide shuttles to the house.

The gift shop will be open and free refreshments will be provided.
