The holiday question continues: real Christmas trees or artificial ones?
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s that time of year again to put up your holiday decor. As decades pass, there still a question that keeps popping up: which is better–real Christmas trees or fake Christmas trees?
A study shows that there are 350-500 million trees that are grown each year in the United States. Despite this, there are only 30 million trees that are harvested as Christmas trees.
Last year the American Christmas Tree Association conducted their own study on the matter. The organization found that 77% of Americans displayed artificial trees in their work places and homes rather than real ones.
Buying the “real deal” seems to be all the craze on social media in 2024. Lots of celebrities and social media influencers are taking to Tik Tok to share why they are choosing to purchase a authentic Christmas tree.
Some say this is because of tradition. Owner of Bare Creek Farms, Weston Vernon, says he agrees. Vernon says most of his customers come for the “experience of spending time with your family” and living out your Christmas movie dreams.
Vernon adds this time of year is a “giving season.” He says the holidays are “not about you, but what you can do for the people around you.”
The farm carries on the season of giving by donating trees to families in need.
