The Hive hosts parent meeting to discuss Medicare concerns
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At The Hive, a group of concerned parents gathered to discuss the recent Medicare bill passage, and what could come next.
The meeting is part of a monthly series hosted by The Hive, designed to give parents a safe space to connect and talk openly about a range of topics.
Over the two-hour discussion, several concerns were raised, including one parent who shared what worries her most.
“The numbers, the funding to the degree of which Medicaid is going to be cut in Kentucky. The way that the federal funding match has been cut and what our legislators are going to have to prioritize when they do meet for our Medicaid budget based off of this bill,” Mary Beth Patton says.
Staff with The Hive are excited to offer this space and hope more parents are able to come out in the future.
“I think that there is probably not any place that is more empowering and validating to a parent of a kid, an adult or small, with any kind of disability than being around other parents who have been there… and so when we’re all in this together, we can just… we need each other,” The Hive founder and executive director Laura Orsland says.
She’s always looking for new topics to discuss during the Parachute Project meetings, so if you have any ideas about what you want to hear talked about, or are interested in attending, reach out to The Hive.
