The expansion of the Warren County Jail
WARREN COUNTY, Ky.- The Warren County Jail is growing beyond its capacity. This is impacting the staff and especially the inmates.
The last jail expansion was more than 20 years ago, when they added 200 beds.
According to Warren County jailer Stephen Harmon, “Everyone celebrates the fact that Bowling Green – Warren County is the fastest growing city in the common wealth, but in last 22 years, our population grows also. Inmate population is the problem that we have with the size facility that have.”
We learned that the jail was supposed to be expanded before COVID and had to stop. The increase in size has become a necessity now more than ever. The decision to expand the jail was just made as the Bowling Green population continues to grow.
