The dream keeps going, Victory Hill Dream Center opening extended shelter

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The Victory Hill Dream Center has been around for two years in May, and in just a couple of weeks, they’ll be opening a permanent shelter downtown.

It started off as just a search for community by Amy Payne, who was recovering from drug addiction. She gave her testimony at her church, and it resonated with three other members in the congregation. The idea was a group to experience community and life together, talk about their journey and move forward.

Eventually, the group outgrew the church and the courthouse, and now they have their own location right in the downtown Scottsville area.

The center has served as a shared space for many groups outside of the center’s programs and most recently as an emergency shelter for severe weather.

Amy Payne and her husband, Larry, said since running the emergency shelter and connecting with those who sought a warm place to stay, they felt the need has outgrown their single location and will now be opening a more permanent shelter close by.

The shelter has a multitude of programs and is always open to new volunteers. You can find the center on the corner of 201 S. Court St. and West Maple Street.

Amy Payne told News 40 that Facebook is their best friend, so if you’re interested in making contact or helping out in some way, head over to the Victory Hill Dream Center page.
