The trial of Crystal Rogers: Day 3

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It was a long day once again as the trial continues to find justice and truth.

Tonight, live at 6 p.m. you can get some high points from the trial.

Yesterday in court we learned that crystal and brooks were supposed to go on a romantic kids free weekend. That’s what she said to at first her friend via text message, and then her cousin who she saw later on at Walmart, both of who testified on day 2.

At first, Brooks did not tell law enforcement exactly where he was that night, later on it was discovered he and crystal along with their youngest child, Eli, were at the family farm, and they were there from around 7:20 to maybe 11:30.

Lead Detective John snow tells brooks he’s having trouble wrapping his head around their time spent at the farm, because it was raining all day on Friday July 3 and while he is a father and understands that sometimes you lose track of time when doing things with your kids, 4 and half hours is a long time to be out in the rain with a 2 and a half year old, so he would like Brooks to write down in detail what all he did Friday including on the farm.

Brooks also reported that it was Crystal’s idea to go to the farm that night with Eli to show him the cows and such but of course Snow brings up the are texts with Crystal’s friend Christina Holley where Crystal said they would be having a kid-free weekend and wondering why she would lie. Brooks said he has no idea why she would lie. This was strange to Detective Snow because both Christina and cousin Amanda included in their testimony that Crystal was very excited.

Brooks told Snow he went home that night with Eli and Crystal who stayed up till about midnight playing on the phone while Brooks was asleep.

Brooks called Crystal in the morning after he notices her not home and the car isn’t there but assumes she might’ve went back out either with friends or maybe her parents or her cousin, Sabrina. That morning he texted a couple of people trying to find crystal and of course had no luck.

One state witness named Richy Riggs who is a fellow realtor and worked with brooks before said Brooks is his top client. He was also their neighbor for about 6 months before Crystal disappeared but the weekend before his lake trip that fourth of July weekend he headed to where he saw and heard Brooks and Crystal arguing. Apparently Crystal accused brooks of cheating – the defense immediately shut this down as it is considered hearsay. Later on he said Crystal was indeed concerning about Brooks kicking her out of the house for some reason.

Then comes a big closer for the day, Danny Singleton, who the defense pulled a short credibility attack on as he was found guilty of perjury in grand jury prior to this trial said that one day on a job site, Rosemary Houk, Brooks’s mother approached him asking if he knew of someone to “help get rid of Crystal”. Danny replied with “In this town, if you got enough money you can do anything”.
