Thanksgiving dinner for international students
Today many international college students are spending Thanksgiving in Bowling Green.
All dining options are closed on campus, but some staff members at Western Kentucky University made sure the international students had the opportunity to eat a warm, traditional, Thanksgiving meal.
The College of Health and Human Sciences, along with the Department of Applied Human Sciences hosted the annual Thanksgiving dinner for international students earlier today. Dozens of students, staff, and faculty gathered to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday inside the Academic Complex. There was a variety of savory foods and sweet deserts.
WKU chef, Julie Lee, cooked the food and helped organize the event.
“Thanksgiving to me, is one of the greatest American holidays. It’s just about friends, family, food, celebrating the harvest, and giving thanks for everything we have. A lot of the international students have never experienced it before, of course. So I try to always do this on Thanksgiving day specifically for the international students,” Lee said.
This was the third year for the event.
