Texas man killed while running across interstate

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Texas man died as he was trying to run across Interstate 65 in Simpson County early Monday morning.

Otokini Wokoma, 23, of Temple, Texas was running across the middle lane of travel at about 3 a.m. near mile marker 10 on the northbound side of Interstate 65 when he was struck by a semi truck, according to a release from Kentucky State Police.

Edgar Martinez, 39, of Escobedo, Mexico was driving the Freightliner in the middle lane and attempted to avid striking Wokoma but was unable to avoid hitting him, according to the release.

The Simpson County Coroner pronounced Wokoma dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
