SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Tennessee woman is facing charges after police say she crashed into a police cruiser during a pursuit that passed through Allen County.

The Scottsville Police Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 1:40 p.m. Thursday on a 2004 Dodge Durango due to a traffic violation.

Police say the driver was identified as 22-year-old Chelsea H. Bennett of Smithville, Tennessee.

According to police, Bennett did not stop her vehicle and fled, leading law enforcement on a multi-mile chase through Allen County.

During this time, police say Bennett crashed head on into a police cruiser. Authorities say this caused significant damage, and tire deflation devices ultimately disabled Bennett’s vehicle.

According to Scottsville police chief Darren Tabor, two officers were inside of the vehicle during the collision, along with a police K-9.

The chase ended on Highway 100-W about three miles west of Scottsville, police say.

Bennett was apprehended and transported to The Medical Center Scottsville for evaluation.

Police say Bennett has outstanding felony probation warrants from Tennessee. She remains at the Allen County Jail.

Bennett is charged with three counts of attempted murder of a first responder (peace officer), reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief, failure to or improper signal and first-degree assault on a service animal.
