Teen dies following wreck in Ohio County

BEAVER DAM, Ky. – A Kentucky teen has died following a wreck in Ohio County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers received a call from Ohio County dispatch around 12:20 a.m. regarding a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 62 in Ohio County.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation revealed a 17-year-old of McHenry was traveling eastbound on U.S. 62 in a Chevrolet Malibu. Troopers say they learned the teen driver crossed the centerline and struck a Dodge Ram truck driven by 28-year-old Diana Sanchez of Beaver Dam, who was traveling westbound.

The teen driver was pronounced dead on scene. Sanchez was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unknown at this time if all of those involved were wearing seatbelts, authorities say. KSP says it is currently reconstructing the collision.

The investigation is on-going.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, Beaver Dam Police Department, Hartford and Beaver Dam Fire Departments, Ohio County EMS and Ohio County Coroner’s Office assisted troopers at the scene.
