T.J. Regional Health introduces da Vinci 5 surgical system

GLASGOW, Ky. – T.J. Regional Health announced Wednesday it has acquired the Intuitive da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system.
According to a release by T.J. Regional Health, the da Vinci 5 is designed to “perform surgery to enable better outcomes, efficiency and actionable insights. The system can be used for minimally invasive surgical procedures in general surgery, urology, gynecology, bariatrics and more.”
The organization says the new robot replaces the da Vinci SI in T.J. Samson Community Hospital’s surgery suite.
Dr. Michael Saridakis, a general surgeon with T.J. Regional Health, states that “with the da Vinci 5 Surgical System, the robot isn’t operating on its own – I control every movement from the console. The robotic arms are an extension of my hands, offering a greater range of motion, enhanced 3D visualization, and exceptional precision. This technology allows us to perform complex procedures through smaller incisions, often resulting in less pain and a smoother recovery for our patients.”
T.J. Regional Health goes on to state the da Vinci 5 is among multiple new robotics investments over the past several months.
“We are thrilled to be a leader in this field and look forward to continually bringing southcentral Kentucky advanced minimally invasive surgical options,” said Neil Thornbury, CEO. “This cutting-edge technology allows for extreme precision by our surgeons. For our patients, this means they get the surgical care they need right here at home, and they are likely to experience shorter recovery times, reduced risk of complications, and improved outcomes.”
