Sweetheart challenge in downtown Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It was an idea created during COVID, and now it continues 4 years later.

The Bowling Green Department of Parks & Recreation created the “sweetheart challenge” as a way of providing a way for the community to celebrate Valentine’s Day and maintain social distance. It takes you all around downtown Bowling Green with the help of registering through the city’s website or enrolling via text message.

The scavenger hunt is all digital, getting clues sent to your cellphone directing you around town. Telia Butler, Downtown Development Coordinator for the city of Bowling Green told News 40 there are also some businesses that are in on the scavenger hunt as well and offering cool projects or discounts.

You can text “SweetheartsBG” to 833-4940-0660 to participate on Friday and Saturday, February 9 and 10. Butler told the station that Friday is geared more toward couples while Saturday is meant for the whole family.

You can find out any additional information and be aware of updates on the city’s website or Facebook page.
