Suspect in hit-and-run flees police, injured after standoff in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – A suspect in a hit-and-run was involved in a brief standoff with the Glasgow Police Department Sunday afternoon.
Glasgow Police Department Major Terry Flatt says a man was involved in a hit-and-run accident, followed by a brief police pursuit that came to a stop at the Big Lots parking lot located at 942 Happy Valley Road.
Flatt says the man did not comply with officers’ commands to exit the vehicle.
Officers fired at least one less-than-lethal round at the vehicle, according to Flatt.
Officers removed the man from the vehicle, and he was transported to the TJ Samson Community Hospital for medical treatment. After he is medically cleared, he will be transported to the Barren County Detention Center.
The man’s identity has not been released, and no charges have been filed until the man is medically cleared.
Flatt says more information on the investigation will be released Monday morning.
Barren County Sheriff Department and the Barren/Metcalfe EMS assisted the Glasgow Police Department.
