Students gather to showcase medical knowledge and skills

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- High school students enrolled in medical classes showed off their skills at the HOSA-Future Health Professionals competition.

HOSA, which stands for Health Occupations Students of America, came to SouthCentral Kentucky Community and Technical College in Bowling Green. Students from 10 different area counties participated.

The event featured game show like activities, sessions on caring for wounds and CPR and surgical competitions involving test dummies.

This is the regional HOSA event, meaning the students are involved as a way to prepare for the state HOSA competition in Louisville this March.

“They actually get to see several events while they’re here today too. They may choose a different field based upon that. It’s great to see the students interact and enjoy the events and learn more about allied health nursing in general,” said HOSA event advisor Angie Harlan.

As part of the event, students also had the chance to hear from medical professionals.
