Steve-O supports Brite Generators in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – One local business is celebrating 25 years in the electrical industry with a story its owner says he will never forget.

I stopped in Franklin to learn more about Brite Gen and the journey behind its success.

“The first day we started business, we thought it was going to be the best day of our lives,” said George Blevens, president and CEO of Brite Gen. “By noon, that was the day the Twin Towers fell. So we started our company on September 11, 2001.”

Over the past 25 years, Blevens and his team have faced challenges and growth…from relocating to Franklin to serving customers across a wide region, from Louisville to Huntsville, Alabama. Along the way, he has also built relationships with clients, including entertainer Steve-O.

“George was one of the first people I met,” Steve-O said. “I wanted to get an electric charger for my Tesla, and he wouldn’t let me pay.”

That generosity has helped Blevins build lasting relationships in every community he serves.

Celebrating 25 years is just part of the milestone. Brite Gen also gives back by supporting local nonprofits and organizations, including the Simpson County Animal Shelter.

“With as many cats and dogs as we take in, we can always use donations,” said Ruth Garriott, director of the Simpson County Animal Shelter. “It was an awesome way to celebrate them reaching 25 years in business while also helping the animals.”

Blevens says supporting nonprofits was an easy decision, especially when the impact benefits the entire community.

“To be able to live through that is a testament to the strength of the company,” he said. “A weak company doesn’t survive that. We regrouped, and we grew from it.”
