BREAKING: Steve Lutz named as next head coach at Oklahoma State

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The WKU Men’s Basketball team will be on the lookout for its next head coach, following the announcement that Steve Lutz is headed to Oklahoma State to fill their vacant coaching position.
College basketball analyst Jeff Goodman reports that Lutz will head to Stillwater to take over the Cowboys, following the team’s 2023-2024 season where they finished 4-14 in the Big 12, tying with West Virginia for last place in the conference.
Lutz was brought to Bowling Green following his time at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, where he helped the Islanders win their conference regular season title once, and reach two straight NCAA Tournaments.
In his lone season on the Hill, Lutz lead the Tops back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013, following a 19-11 regular season, where WKU performed well at home under Coach Lutz, going 12-2 in Diddle Arena.
The Tops fell to Marquette 87-69 in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, ending their successful season, and now for the second straight offseason, WKU will be searching for a new leader.
News 40 Sports will keep you updated on the next coaching search for the Hilltoppers.
