Staycation in Hart County perhaps?
HART COUNTY, Ky. – In Horse Cave and the surrounding area, there are quite a few things to do that you might not be aware of.
if you go to the website, you’ll see that Hart County is a very interesting place with surprisingly around 700 Amish families in the area. Sandra Wilson, Executive Director of Hart County-Horse Cave Tourism, said they give out a map highlighting some of those “100+ family businesses to tourists, as well as other brochures to great attractions.
Wilson told News 40 about the Dutch Country Safari Park, Kentucky Down Under and the Kampgrounds of America off the interstate. At the KOA of Horse Cave, there are options to stay in teepees, tree houses and conestoga wagons while resting there which of course have HVAC in place.
There’s Onyx Cave nearby as well for those who might want to take a peek inside our beautiful planet Earth, which is a national treasure in the geologic world.
News 40 spoke to a man coming from Florida who had been traveling all the way up the east coast for the last month, who said that he hadn’t been in Kentucky since 1969, but it was still just as beautiful. He said he’s been making stops on his way home from Niagara Falls and is looking forward to going on some hikes.
Wilson added at the end of her interview, “people from all over the world come here to see us and plan their vacation around things here…”, encouraging the local communities to come out. The director confidently stated in her time with the station that “you don’t have to go far away to have a good time.”
