State police investigating shooting in Breckinridge County

HARDINSBURG, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating a shooting in Breckinridge County.

KSP Post 4 says it was requested by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a shooting incident on Saturday evening. The incident occurred north of Hardinsburg.

According to the initial investigation, BCSO deputies responded to a domestic incident at a home near the 2100 block of KY 2779.

KSP says deputies arrived at the home and a subject fired gunshots at deputy cruisers before fleeing the scene.

One BCSO deputy was struck and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

KSP believes the suspect, Julio Morales Ceballos, a.k.a. Julio Morales, 53, of Hardinsburg, fled into a wood area. Ceballos is believed to be armed. The search for Ceballos continues.

Ceballos is wanted for attempted murder of a peace officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and assault 4th-degree domestic violence- minor injury.

The investigation remains ongoing.
