State police investigating Marshall County murder

BENTON, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is conducting a murder investigation in Marshall County.

KSP says it was requested by the Benton Police Department to investigate the death of Lia Thompson, 49, of Benton.

An early investigation shows that before 2 pm on Wednesday, Thompson was found dead in her residence. Thompson displayed injuries believed to be consistent with foul play.

KSP is investigating Thompson’s death as a homicide. Detectives are following leads.
