State police investigating fatal semi collision in Breckinridge Co.

HARDINSBURG, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal semi collision on Thursday afternoon.

KSP Post 4 says it responded to a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of KY-144 and Cart Manning Crossing Road in Breckinridge County at the request of the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office

KSP’s initial investigation shows that Michael Robert Tropp, 44, of Jasper, IN, was driving a commercial tractor-trailer southbound on KY-144 when the passenger side tire left the roadway. The semi went off the roadway, down an embankment, and struck a tree.

The Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office pronounced Tropp dead at the scene.

The roadway was shut down for several hours while troopers conducted a collision reconstruction.

The investigation is ongoing.
