Standoff ends peacefully in Scottsville
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man was arrested after an overnight stand off with police on East Maple Street.
Officers went were attempting to serve a warrant on Matthew Carter, 34, when they went to his mother’s house at about 9 p.m., Scottsville Police Chief Jeff Pearson said.
His mother told police her gun was missing and Carter was inside the home, Pearson said. Police began crisis negotiation but Carter did not come out.
At about 6 a.m., after police had shut off heat to the house, they made entry and found Carter asleep or pretending to be asleep in his bed, Pearson said.
He was taken into custody without incident.
His mother had given police consent to search the home until he was taken into custody.
Carter has to be medically and mentally cleared before he can be lodged in the Allen County Detention Center.
