St. Teresa Thrift Store reopens in Fairview Plaza Shopping Center

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local thrift store is back in business at their new location.

“[We have] just a newer look, a more unique thrifting experience. We have clothing, jewelry, purses, houseware, furniture, new mattresses… just a wide variety of merchandise,” Kelly Wiseman, Executive Director of St. Theresa Thrift Store says.

They were struck by the devastating tornadoes in December 2021, but were back in operation within two weeks.

“It was actually amazing that we really only had a lot of water damage at the store, but our brand new box truck was knocked over. That was kind of disheartening… but it was very shocking and heartbreaking for sure… St. Teresa was looking out for us. Let’s just say it because I’ll just say it…,” Patty Polston, Manager of St. Teresa, says.

That’s why the employees say the store means a lot to them.

“We started from scratch. We started from an empty space. We set it up how we thought was appropriate… we think we provided a really nice, clean and beautiful shopping experience for people and we hope the community thinks the same,” Polston says.

Kelly believes the store offers the community a way to save money and support a local ministry in the process.

“The ministry is a little twofold in that the prices we have here in our store are affordable for people that want to come and shop and have not purchased nice things, but not at the high dollar price,” Wiseman says.
