South Warren Wrestling to host school’s first tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The South Warren Spartans will be holding their first ever wrestling tournament this weekend after becoming their own solo program this season.

Warren County wrestling, as a whole, has grown immensely over the last five years, leading each individual school able to split into their own teams this year.

The ability to host a tournament at South Warren is a milestone that the coaching staff sees as an honor, and they are hoping to use it as another tool to see more success in building the program for years to come.

“This weekend is the first major tournament for our high school boys,” Spartan head coach Will Daniels said. “16 teams will be here to wrestle and it’s going to be great for the school. This will be one of the biggest tournaments that’s ever been at South Warren.”

“When we started five years ago, there was a handful of wrestlers and now our teams have blown up Warren County and for South to have 40 or 50 kids on a wrestling team between all three programs is just amazing.”
