South Warren Spartans Baseball gear up for 2022 season
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The South Warren Spartans are ready to get back on the diamond after losing to Warren East in districts last year. Head Coach Chris Gage knows the district competition will be tough, but the most important thing to focus on is his team.
“We’ve done some good things in the past but the past is over and other teams have done really good things to you just you know,” Gage said. “Every year is a new year so you just concentrate on yourselves and try to make yourselves better.”
The squad is made up of eight seniors, including South Warren star running back Kobe Martin, who already led the Spartans to a title the school year.
“With football I was out here all the time,” Martin said. “My body feels it right now more than anything, but I really appreciate what football has done because it keeps me in shape for being out here.”
Kobe and his fellow teammates feel this clan of Spartans have a special bond.
“We just have a lot of experience pitching just everywhere. We have a lot of experience this year.”
“Everybody’s close, we’re like best friends,” South Warren Senior Trevor McNaughton said. It’s not really a team. It’s more like an organization.”
“We’ve all played together for so long, we just when we know each other really well and we have a good connection,” South Warren Senior Coleman House said.
