South Warren Beats Henderson County in Walk-off Fashion
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After giving up seven runs in the top of the sixth and down to their final out — South Warren’s Elly Bennett scorched a two-strike pitch over the right fielder’s head to beat the Henderson County colonels — 10-9.
South Warren led for the majority of the game before the Colonels stormed into an offensive frenzy in the top of the sixth.
The motto for the Spartans has been “finish” and for head coach Kelly Reynolds, there was no stronger way to finish out tonight’s heated contest with the Colonels.
“During that last inning, I mean, wow,” Reynolds said. “Our girls, they have just prided themselves. We prided ourselves as a team and just not giving up until we’ve hit the last out of a game and that right there wow, what again!”
The Spartans’ next game is tomorrow at 5 p.m. Eastern Time at John Cropp Stadium.
