South Central Workforce Development Board unveils Commonwealth Coders program for the fall

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- The South Central Workforce Development Board has announced a program to provide training when it comes to web development.

Commonwealth Coders is a 16-week training course that will prepare participants for a career as a junior web developer, and it’s set to debut this fall. This is a collaborative effort between the South Central, Cumberlands, Bluegrass and Northern Kentucky Workforce Boards.

The course led by the BC Skills development academy was initially piloted between the South Central and Cumberland Workforce Development Boards, and the success and growing demand for web developers led to this expansion.

South Central Workforce Development Board president Jon Sowards said the results of this program are every beneficial.

“Over the history of the BC Skills web development academy, they have a lot of their students who are working for companies on the east coast, the west coast, out of Kansas City, but they live and reside right here in Kentucky making really good money, because they can do it remotely,” Sowards sid.

The course is set to be in a hybrid format for South Central and Cumberlands participants, and completely virtual for Bluegrass and Northern Kentucky participants.
