South-Central Kentucky Drug Task Force to receive federal funds

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – Additional federal funding is coming to a local law enforcement agency to assist its officers in the fight against illegal drugs.

The office of National Drug Control Policy just announced this year’s Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area designations. Logan and Simpson counties, which are served by the South-Central Kentucky Drug Task Force, have both received a designation for 2020.

This designation allows for additional federal funding for the South-Central Kentucky Drug Task Force, which investigates cases in both of those counties.

South-Central Kentucky Drug Task Force director Jacky Hunt said he’s grateful.

Hunt said the designation would not have been possible without the assistance of Kentucky’s elected members of congress and U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman.
