South-Central Kentucky Cultural Center to welcome home Vietnam veterans

GLASGOW, Ky.- The South-Central Kentucky Cultural Center is honoring the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War with a special event for veterans.

This gathering aims to create a welcoming space and give long-overdue recognition to those who served.

Vietnam veterans, who often returned home without the support given to earlier generations, will share their stories through speeches and programs. Volunteer Rich Crowe explained that public sentiment shifted during the war, and many soldiers were unfairly blamed.

The event seeks to heal those wounds and offer the respect veterans deserve.

“They see us. They know us. They respect us,” Crowe said, emphasizing the importance of recognition.

The impact of being overlooked for so long still affects many veterans today. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the community is encouraged to attend and show their support.
