South Central Community and Technical College recognized by a national organization
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-A local community college is being recognized as one of the best in the country.
The Aspen Institute has named South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College as one of the top 150 colleges eligible to receive the $1 million Aspen prize.
The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy studies organization based in Washington, D.C.
The prize is awarded to a school that demonstrates high completion rates and success of students of color or low income.
School officials said they’re thrilled that their institution is being noticed.
“It’s incredibly humbling that we were recognized as one of the top 150 community colleges in the nation to recognize our retention rates, our work that we’ve done with our underrepresented minorities and low-income students is great,” said SKYCTC vice president of Student Affairs Brooke Justice.
The top 10 finalists will be named this may. The overall winner will be announced in spring 2021.
