Some 47 Kentucky counties declare state of emergency

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As of late Monday night, Warren County was one of 47 Kentucky counties to declare a state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon declared a state of emergency Monday night.
In the county central Kentucky area, in addition to Warren County, both Edmonson and Metcalfe counties have declared.
Of Kentucky’s remaining counties 72 had not yet declared, one county – Knox – had made a verbal commitment to declare as of Monday night.
A declaration of a state of emergency allows county judge-executives to take whatever measures necessary to protect the heath, safety and welfare of the residents living in their counties.
