SOKY Indivisible holds candlelight vigil in remembrance of those impacted by ICE

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – SOKY Indivisible members gathered at the corner of Potter Avenue and Morgantown Road in Bowling Green to make their voices heard about the recent actions of ICE.

This candlelight vigil got a lot of support from drivers, with many horns honked in support of the message, which one member says is a relief.

“I think it’s encouraging for people who believe as we do, to see us out here. They recognize that there are people that agree with them. It means a lot. Now, we have had a couple people who didn’t like us, and it was very obvious… but that’s okay as long as we don’t have any violence or anything and we haven’t… we haven’t had any violence at all,” Denise Zielinski says.

She adds the results she’s hoping for won’t come soon, but she DOES hope they happen for future generations, including some of her own.

“I have grandchildren, so that’s personal for me. I also have a disabled son who’s 50, and I worry about what’s going to happen for funding for him, particularly as I leave this world… and his father and everybody is no longer around. What’s it going to be like? That’s real personal for me too,” she says.
