SOKY Fair introduces clear bag policy for 2025

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The SOKY Fair kicks off this week, but there’s one major thing you need to know before you go.

This year, they’re implementing a new clear bag policy. This means that any small bags that can easily be inspected will be the only ones allowed into the fairgrounds.

Exceptions include medical items after they are properly inspected.

The main reason for this implementation is to improve public safety and make sure everyone can get inside as quickly as possible.

“When you get here, we’ve got this new clear bag policy, alright. Pure safety reasons for everybody. You walk up to that front gate and you got a duffel bag? I’m gonna tell you to go back to your car. You got the food, you got the games, you got the entertainment. You don’t need a 15 pound bag to be carrying on your shoulder. Simple. It’s not rocket science,” Jim Maroney, a Fair Board Advisor and Economic Development Consultant for the SOKY Fair, says.

Staff are also excited to bring back the Ferris Wheel for the first time in years, as well as many more fun things in store.

Gates open at 6PM each night. Admission is $15 Tuesday and Wednesday, and $20 for the remainder of the week.
