Smiths Grove man charged with theft of vehicle, lawn mower in Edmonson County

SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – A Smiths Grove man is facing multiple charges related to a theft case.

According to a uniform citation, the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department arrested 33-year-old Cody Browning of Smiths Grove, Kentucky after finding him in possession of a Dodge pickup truck and lawn mower that had been reported stolen.

Deputies say Browning had given false information to them about the items, as well as when he had used them.

The lawn mower was reportedly found at the 400 block of Chalybeate Road in Brownsville, Kentucky.

Deputies say they also located anabolic steroids, needles, marijuana and additional drug paraphernalia in the middle seat of the vehicle.

Browning also gave false information about a female subject who was present, deputies say, who they later learned had a warrant for her arrest.

Browning is charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others between $1,000 and $10,000, theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others between $10,000 and $1,000,000, second-degree possession of a controlled substance – anabolic steroid, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension.
