Smiths Grove man arrested after stop at traffic safety checkpoint

HADLEY, Ky. – A Smiths Grove man is charged in connection with a stop at a Warren County traffic safety checkpoint.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police made contact with a driver during a traffic safety checkpoint on Jackson Bridge Road on Sunday.
Authorities say the driver, identified as 35-year-old Lance Bailey of Smiths Grove, was shaking uncontrollably and was requested to exit the vehicle.
Troopers say Bailey stated he had marijuana in the vehicle earlier that day.
During a vehicle search, troopers say they located a backpack with two pipes, marijuana and suspected methamphetamine. Authorities say they additionally found a scale, unlabeled pill bottle, more marijuana and a substantial amount of U.S. currency.
Bailey was arrested and remains at the Warren County Regional Jail.
Bailey is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, less than 8 ounces ,first offense, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, first offense and prescription controlled substance not in proper container, first offense.
