Simpson County Tourism Commission announces new movie filming in Franklin
FRANKLIN, Ky. – A big project is set to bring major attention to Franklin and Simpson County, as a brand new movie is set to film there starting next week.
The film, titled “House of Holloway,” will feature iconic local landmarks, and is described as a suspenseful thriller.
The story centers around a group of friends staying at a bed and breakfast, where things quickly take a dark turn.
While this marks the first Hollywood film shot entirely in the area, local leaders say it’s not the first project to come through Simpson County, and hopefully it won’t be the last.
“Some music videos and some like smaller independent type movies and some student films have been here, but this is the first one when we’ve had people from Hollywood come in and say ‘We want to film in your town.’ We are part of the West Kentucky Film Commission, and that is how we got on the radar of Hollywood,” Amy Ellis, Executive Director of the Simpson County Tourism Commission.
It’s not just giving the filmmakers a setting for their idea, it’s also going to generate lots of dollars in this local economy.
“We’re going to have visitors that we know are here staying in our hotels. They’re going to be eating in our restaurants. They’ve employed local makeup people and they’ve got just different people from the community that are going to be helping with the crew and with the film itself. So we’re really excited to have them here… and the boost in the economy that it’s going to bring to Simpson County,” Ellis says.
She hopes the project will give Franklin a chance to get many more movies in the future. News 40 will keep you updated as production moves along.
