Simpson County Sheriff’s Office warning public of ongoing scam

SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. – The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is warning residents of an ongoing scam.
SCSO says callers are impersonating law enforcement, calling victims and claiming they missed jury duty.
Scammers are demanding individuals pay through a Bitcoin machine.
SCSO says scammers are also creating fake warrants to make their threats seem legitimate.
“The Sheriff’s Office will NOT call you to tell you that you have missed jury duty, and we will NEVER demand payment of any kind over the phone,” says SCSO.
Individuals are asked to hang up and report the call to authorities at 270-586-7425
SCSO says, “Your coverage could help us reach residents who may not see our social media warnings and prevent further financial losses. Thank you for helping us protect our community.”
