Simpson County Historical Society expands operations
FRANKLIN Ky.-The Simpson County Historical Society is expanding.
The Historical Society, which is housed in the old jail in Franklin, is home to many historic exhibits.
The Historical Society recently expanded its operation across the street, which provides more space for exhibits and artifacts.
Exhibits include the first televisions, classic record players, Simpson County School District items from years past, and more.
As of now, the historic society is working to create an exhibit hall for the second floor of the building.
President and CEO of the Simpson County Historical Society James Snider said he hopes the new location preserves history for years to come.
“This is a good place to leave items where hopefully they’ll be preserved. I just hope after those of us that are here now are dead and gone that the community will fight and make sure this is financed and preserved forever,” Snider said.
Simpson County residents are encouraged to donate items with historical significance to the society.
