Simpson County celebrates new County Clerk and PVA Office with ribbon cutting
FRANKLIN, Ky. – A ribbon cutting was held in Simpson County on Wednesday to celebrate the opening of the new Property Valuation Administration and County Clerk Office.
Plans for the new office began as early as 2019, with talks as judge executive Mason Barnes took office. The ball really got rolling around late 2021, and by 2024, the city broke ground on the location.
The new office provides more space than the previous location, which was older and in need of renovation. The new building provides more space for employees and gives plenty of storage.
This new building was something that was needed in the community, as Simpson County citizens will find themselves needing to use the PVA office at some point in their lives.
“This is one of the buildings that the county has that every community member will be in at some point during their lifetime,” said Barnes when asked about how important this new building will be to the community.
The new office will provide many services. If you purchase a car, get married or buy a house, you will be in there at some point. The new office now makes the process faster and easier than it was before.
County clerk Austin Johnson said that the new office will make things a lot easier on members of the community.
“The drive-thru service will make it easier on disabled people so they won’t have to get out of their cars, and parents won’t have to worry about bringing in their kids,” Johnson said.
Alison Cummings, the property valuation administrator for Simpson County, also talked about some of the services that the PVA will offer.
“We handle any vehicle problems. If there are problems and you sold a vehicle and it didn’t get taken out of your name or something, we can take the taxes out or talk to you about that. We can, we work on tangibles up here. If you own a business, you have to file a tangible return in Kentucky. And then we also do real estate.”
The new office is now open to the community. For more information, click here.
