Signature Healthcare of Bowling Green honors Sweet Molly’s life

The staff and residents at Signature Healthcare of Bowling Green are having a difficult time saying goodbye.

Not to each other, but to their four-legged friend who they call Sweet Molly.

Sweet Molly was more than a dog wandering the halls but a presence of comfort and love for all.

Sweet Molly’s ashes and pawprint are immortalized in the lobby of the nursing home.

She passed away recently from cancer and a large mass on her spleen.

Unable to breathe and blind in one eye, Sweet Molly still lived life fully.

She was laid back, allowed staff to dress her up and paint her nails.

More importantly, she was a therapy to the residents.

Today Sweet Molly was honored with a cook-out.

For five dollars a plate, you could have a burger, hot dog, chips and a drink.

All the proceeds from today will pay for the cremation and pawprint.

Sweet Molly especially touched Sue Shepherd.

Shepherd never anticipated loving Sweet Molly as much as she does now.

If you ask her what makes Sweet Molly so special, this is her answer.

"It was her attitude I think, that made us all love her so much. When she first came, I told myself I’m not getting attached to her."

Fighting back tears she said, "She got in my heart, she sure did, and she got into every resident and staff’s heart."

Signature Healthcare of Bowling Green took in Sweet Molly three years ago.

However, they will always cherish her memory.

If you don’t have lunch plans, you can stop by until 3:30 PM for a plate.

You can also say your final goodbyes to Sweet Molly.

A canine, a friend and a family member who was loved by many in the community.
