Sherrill to retire at completion of school year, says BGISD

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A long-time Bowling Green educator is retiring.
In a release, the Bowling Green Independent Schools announced the upcoming retirement of Director of Pupil Personnel Donald “D.G.” Sherrill.
Sherrill’s career in education spans 34 years, with the last nine years at the school district’s central office.
BGISD says Sherrill was instrumental in expanding student support services, including comprehensive mental health services and strengthening social work programs.
Sherrill served as a special education teacher, athletic director and head coach of the Bowling Green High School boys basketball team before joining the central office.
“When D.G. joined our high school staff in 2005 as a Special Education Teacher and Boys Basketball Coach, it was apparent that he would be a leader in this district for many years. That continued when D.G. joined our district leadership team in 2017. He brought a work ethic and a focus on helping kids that is second to none,” says Superintendent Gary Fields.
Sherrill’s retirement is effective June 30.
