Sheriff’s office pulls over man for fake temp tags, locates drugs and bullets

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Clarksville man is facing drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says a traffic stop was conducted Monday evening at the intersection of Stonehenge Avenue and Veterans Memorial Lane.

A vehicle with a suspicious temporary tag was located.

A deputy conducted a probable cause search after a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

During the search, almost 33 ounces of marijuana, individual baggies, two cell phones, a scale, 40 caliber bullets, cash app cards, and money were discovered.

The driver is Desmond Byars, 28, of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Byars was arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.

Byars is charged with trafficking in marijuana, no registration plates, no registration receipt, display of an illegal/altered registration plate, excessive windshield/window tinting, and failure of the owner to maintain required insurance.

Byars received a $6,000 cash bond. He was released on Tuesday.
