Sheriff Hightower shares thoughts on extremist flyer found in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A few weeks ago, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that it had found a flyer from the Trinity White Knights, a Ku Klux Klan affiliated group based in and around Kentucky.

On Wednesday, sheriff Brett Hightower gave some comments to News 40 about the situation. Most notably, what most interests the department about the incident.

“For us is to identify, to figure out who these people may be or person may be. And then if we were able to have that information to talk to them and there maybe some charges forthcoming for them disseminating and littering within this neighborhood,” Hightower said.

Shortly after the incident, we reached out to the Southern Poverty Law Center, who tracks such groups in order to learn how best to combat their hateful rhetoric. We spoke via zoom with research analyst Jeff Tischauser from the SPLC who stated that it is important for communities faced with such acts to report them to local authorities so that they can keep a record or potentially prevent such extreme actions from happening again.
