Shepherdsville couple claims $150,000 scratch-off prize

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. – A Shepherdsville couple is celebrating after a recent $150,000 Kentucky lottery win.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, Vicky Barnes and her husband, Jamie, of Shepherdsville traveled to Lottery Headquarters recently with a winning ticket.
Lottery officials say Vicky Barnes bought a scratch-off ticket at the Bullitt County Supermarket on Clermont Road in Shepherdsville.
It wasn’t until the following week that she scratched the ticket off.
“I scratched the first bonus off first, and it said, ‘$75,000,’” Vicky Barnes said. She said she called her husband at work immediately, sharing the big news, and finding out she won another $60,000 on top of it.
Officials say her husband returned home from work and scanned the ticket on his phone to confirm the win.
The couple drove to lottery headquarters on April 21, where they walked away with a check for $108,000 after taxes.
“It makes life easier,” Jamie said. The couple said they plan to buy a car and put some winnings towards remodeling their home.
Bullitt County Supermarket will receive $1,500 for selling the winning ticket.
