Several area school districts announce closures after governor urges schools to close for 2 weeks
In a media conference Thursday afternoon, Governor Andy Beshear asked both public and private schools to shut down beginning Monday for two weeks due to COVID-19 concerns.
He asked schools to use learning methods other than face-to face during this time period, which districts are doing through non-traditional learning methods. This can include take home lesson packets for students, and virtual learning programs.
Beshear said it is important for children to attend school Friday to get instruction form their various districts on how to proceed.
Warren County Schools announced earlier Thursday that this situation is fluid and as of Thursday morning schools would still remain in session but by Thursday afternoon, the school system announced it would close Monday, March 16 through April 10.
Bowling Green City schools will be closed until April 6. The city schools were already scheduled to be closed on Friday. March 3 through April 6 is the district’s spring break.
Metcalfe County ,Barren County, Edmonson County, and Glasgow city schools announced that schools will close there beginning Monday, March 16.
The Allen County School district will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, March 27.
