Sen. Mitch McConnell visits Rotary Club of Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Rotary Club of Bowling Green welcomed Sen. Mitch McConnell as its guest speaker.
Beginning in 1905, the Rotary Club started in Chicago. The organization has since established chapters across the country and has over one million members. The organization focuses on fellowship, growth, and service in the community.
Each meeting has an honored guest who discusses their thoughts on various state or local topics. This week’s invitee, being McConnell, allowed for Kentuckians to engage with their representation.
President of the Bowling Green Rotary Club, Duncan Hines, believes it is “essential” to get “direct information from our leaders.” He adds that it was a great experience to “know what’s going to happen and what’s happening now” in our country.
Members of the organization as well as leaders in the community gathered to hear his thoughts and opinions about current issues. These ranged from The One Big Beautiful Bill, foreign affairs and President Donald Trump’s term thus far.
The senator shared a bit of advice for those wanting to pursue Washington. He says that “patience” is key and “the way to appreciate being in the senate.”
McConnell does iridate the pressure of the position, saying ” doing what’s best for your country is difficult.
