Sen. Mike Wilson speaks on hopes for future legislation limiting diversity, equity and inclusion at colleges

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – There are talks about reintroducing legislation to limit diversity, equity and inclusion practices at colleges across the country.

Many people know it as DEI, which has brought about controversy in multiple states.

The legislation died in Kentucky, but many lawmakers want to see it brought back up in the next session.

We spoke to Sen. Mike Wilson to tells us more about his hopes for the legislation.

Wilson said, “I’m not comfortable with how it was done. Like I said, I would much rather have seen them pass their house bill nine to us then we would’ve had a chance to clan up some of those areas and make some changes to the bill, so that’s the part I was not happy with.”

Whether or not this legislation will take form and what it will include remains to be seen.

News 40 will continue to watch the latest developments in the 30-day legislative session taking place next year.
