Self report tornado damaged property to reduce your taxes

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If any of the recent tornadoes damaged your property, you can act right now to help reduce your tax bill.
Property valuation administrators assessed tornado damage in Bowling Green, but they need your help to make the most accurate assessment adjustments.
The administration asks property owners to self-report all tornado damages to make sure unseen damage gets accounted for.
They’ve sent 4,500 letters to those properties in the path of the tornado destruction asking owners to self-report all the damage to their homes and vehicles. People can fill out the forms included in the letter or even just call the PVA to describe the full extent of damage.
Warren County Property Valuation Administrator Susan Oliver Lewis said, “There are some that we have put five percent, or there are even some that we think have no damage that may actually be damaged on the inside. We just can’t see it from the outside. What we need is for people to self report.”
The sooner you report your damaged property, the better. The PVA will send an Assessment Notice in the Mail in April to all property owners getting a reduced assessment due to the tornado.
